Welcome Eva Sanchez, our new Poetry Editor!
Eva is a 23 year old first generation Mexican-American and honorary desert rat. She began storytelling in her first grade class and poetry became her greatest expression. As she grew amongst the tensions of what it meant to be a woman, she met many eclectic people who inspired her to draw, write and study. They helped shape her into who she is today. Many of her family and friends are inspiration for her writing and she finds life in every place she goes. She has had 2 poems published by the Quill and is excited to be behind the scenes with the publication for the first time.
Meet our new Managing Editor, Krista Kirkham!
Krista Kirkham is a senior at Dixie State University majoring in English with an emphasis in creative writing. She is a desert-dwelling Utah native who loves the mountains and hates the snow. Inspired by the world, she makes traveling a priority - even if it means she's constantly broke. When she's not writing she likes reading memoirs and baking vegan cookies.
Introducing Jim Lupher, our new Fiction Editor!
Jim Lupher is an English Literature Studies major in his final year at Dixie State. If you ask him whether he goes by Jim or James he’ll say “Call me whatever you want; just don’t call me late for dinner.”. He’s dead serious. James was late for dinner once he can’t push the memory from his mind. When James says this, know also that he’s testing you. If you call him Jim, he’ll think you’re pretty cool: If you call him James, which he sees as more formal, he’ll take it as a sign of false respect, and think you a sycophant vying for his replica fabergé egg that he bought at a truck stop when he was 15.
This is Amy Greene, our new Creative Nonfiction Editor!
Amy Greene is a senior at Dixie State University and will graduate this year with her degree in English Secondary Education. She has enjoyed her time at Dixie State, but she is ready to explore places with cooler temperatures and a closer proximity to the ocean. She loves true-crime, house plants, words, the film Moulin Rouge, and can't wait to work on the Southern Quill again this year!
Say hello to our new Young Writers Editor, Lizzie Cawley!
Lizzie Cawley is a senior at Dixie State University where she emphasizes in literary studies. Lizzie will be graduating in May 2019 with her Bachelor of English. After receiving an associate degree in English at Mohave Community College, Lizzie transferred to DSU and is also pursuing experience in freelance and technical writing.
And last but not least, meet Graham! This years editor for Visual Arts!
Graham is a senior at Dixie State University where he is completing his degree in English with an emphasis in Secondary Education. He enjoys cheap tacos, reasonably priced beer, and pretending he can afford either. Among other things, he is a disability advocate, little league football referee, Warped Tour veteran, local coffee enthusiast, amateur Post Malone look-a-like, and a half-assed vegan every other week. He is a proud Vonneguy, and constantly reminding anyone listening that ice-nine kills. So it goes.
